The Story Behind the Shirt
Over 7,000 died at Gettysburg in three days. Lincoln spoke for two minutes. On November 19, 1863, at the dedication of the Soldiers' National Cemetery, Edward Everett spoke for two hours; Lincoln used 272 words. He asked the living to take up the unfinished work of those who fought there, so "that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom." That work is still ours.
On the back: an engraved sun on the horizon of rolling fields, its long rays filling the sky, above "A NEW BIRTH OF FREEDOM" in tall capitals, "THIS NATION UNDER GOD" in gold and "GETTYSBURG 1863" beneath. On the chest: the original 1765 A Co. mark in our founder's own hand. More patriotic shirts made in the USA.
