The Story Behind the Shirt
At the foot of the altar, before he goes up, the priest says this. In the Traditional Latin Mass, the priest says “Introibo ad altare Dei” — Psalm 42:4 in the Vulgate — and the server answers, “Ad Deum qui laetificat juventutem meam”: to God who giveth joy to my youth. One line says where he is going; the answer says why. Every climb toward God should start that way: glad.
On the back: a high altar in fine engraving — the crucifix beneath a cloud and falling light, tall candles on either side, the tabernacle at its heart, and the steps rising to it — over “INTROIBO AD ALTARE DEI” and “I WILL GO UNTO THE ALTAR OF GOD.” On the chest: the original 1765 A Co. mark in our founder's own hand.
