The Story Behind the Shirt
Militia Christi — Chi-Rho
Before a single Christian army ever marched, there was a sign. In 312, on the eve of battle, Constantine looked up and saw it — the Chi-Rho, the first two letters of Christ's name locked into one mark — and with it the words In hoc signo vinces: in this sign, conquer. He painted it on every shield. He won. For seventeen centuries since, the soldiers of Christ have marched under the same standard. This back-print raises it again: the Chi-Rho blazing in full radiance over two words that have never softened — Militia Christi, the Soldiers of Christ — carried forward under 1765, and rooted long before it.
The Sign You March Under
A soldier needs a standard — something to rally to, something to stand under, something that tells the enemy whose side of the field he's on. For the Church Militant, that standard has always been the Chi-Rho. Not a slogan. Not a logo. The monogram of the King Himself. To wear it is to plant your colors before the fight starts: you belong to Christ, you march under His name, and you expect — in this sign — to win. The light behind it isn't decoration. It's the radiance Constantine saw. It still hasn't gone out.

The History Behind the Mark
Before a single Christian army marched, there was a sign. On the eve of the Battle of the Milvian Bridge in 312, the emperor Constantine saw the Chi-Rho — the first two Greek letters of Christ's name, Chi (Χ) and Rho (Ρ), locked into one monogram — and with it the charge history remembers as In hoc signo vinces: in this sign, you will conquer. He had it painted on his soldiers' shields and carried at the head of the army on a standard the Romans called the labarum. He won, and the empire's war on the Church was broken within a generation.
For seventeen centuries since, the Chi-Rho has been the standard of the Church Militant — not a slogan or a logo, but the monogram of the King Himself. Militia Christi, the soldiers of Christ, march under it still. To wear it is to plant your colors before the fight starts.
Asked Straight
What do the Chi-Rho and 'Militia Christi' actually mean?
Chi-Rho is the monogram of Christ — the Greek letters Chi (Χ) and Rho (Ρ), the first two in His name. Constantine saw it before the Battle of the Milvian Bridge in 312 with the words 'In this sign, conquer,' and painted it on his army's shields. Militia Christi is Latin for 'the soldiers of Christ' — the Church Militant. Together they name a standard Christians have marched under for seventeen centuries.
