St. Michael the Archangel — Quis ut Deus
When Lucifer raised his pride against heaven and declared he would make himself like the Most High, one voice answered with the cry that became his name: Quis ut Deus — Who is like God? It was Michael. The Archangel. The prince of the heavenly host. He drew his sword, led the armies of God against the dragon, and threw him down. This back-print renders that victory in full: St. Michael in armor, flaming sword raised, wings spread, the serpent crushed and burning beneath his heel, the banner naming his war cry — Quis ut Deus.
The Captain of the Host
Every soldier-saint in this house ultimately serves under him. Michael is the one the Church calls on when the fight turns spiritual: St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. Pope Leo XIII gave Catholics that prayer in 1886, and men have whispered it in foxholes and squad cars ever since — because Michael is the patron of soldiers and the terror of hell. The dragon beneath his foot isn't mythology. It's the enemy every man actually faces — and the promise that he can be beaten. You don't fight that war alone. You fight it under the standard of the one who already won it.

The History Behind the Mark
When Lucifer raised his pride against heaven, one voice answered with the cry that became his name: Quis ut Deus — Who is like God? It was Michael, the Archangel, prince of the heavenly host. The Book of Revelation records the war: “Michael and his angels fought against the dragon… and the great dragon was thrown down” (Rev 12:7–9). He is the captain of the armies of God and the terror of hell.
In 1886 Pope Leo XIII gave the Church the prayer men have whispered ever since — St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle — and Michael is honored as the patron of soldiers and police, and of every man who faces the enemy. The serpent crushed beneath his heel isn't mythology; it's the war every man is actually in. You don't fight it alone. You fight it under the standard of the one who already won.
